GEC Training Curriculum

As an added benefit to our customers, we offer on-site training. Our sales representatives are factory trained on these products with many years of practical experience.

Blackmer/Corken Pumps

In this hands-on training, you get to actually repair or rebuild a pump under the instructor's direction, by troubleshooting and replacing components in the pump itself. We go over the installation and troubleshooting the pump, piping, electrical, and metering systems. Classes are specific to either Blackmer or Corken.

Blackmer/Corken Compressors

As an attendant, you receive instructions on how to actually repair or rebuild a pump under the instructor's direction, by troubleshooting and determining which components need to be replaced. Topics include the installation and troubleshooting of the compressor, piping, and electrical systems. Classes are specific to either Blackmer or Corken.

Gastite

The Gastite system is a safe, time-saving, and efficient method of installing piping for natural gas and liquefied propane gas. It utilizes corrugated, semi-rigid stainless-steel tubing (CSST) with polyethylene jacketing and fully integrated, all metal components. This training class is required to become a certified Gastite installer.

Cathodic Protection

The Cathodic Protection curriculum covers why tanks corrode and how to prevent the corrosion using external coating and cathodic protection. We explain Sacrificial cathodic protection with an introduction to magnesium anodes. And we take you through the installation process, testing procedure, and maintenance program.

Creating an Efficient Trouble-Free Transfer System

Transfer systems are an integral component of the LPG distribution systems. When they don't work properly, it costs money. Creating an Efficient, Trouble-Free Transfer system guides the student through the various symptoms of an inefficient system and the probable cause and possible solutions.

Perfection Permasert Systems

Elster Perfection changed the natural gas distribution industry in 1976 with the introduction of the first polyethylene, mechanical coupling, Permasert. Since that time, Permasert Couplings have been accepted as an industry standard. The Perfection class takes a hand-on approach to pipe installation using Perfection Permasert Couplings and anodeless service line risers. We also discuss Regulatory guidelines using polyethylene pipe.

Pressure Test & Leak Check

Certain tests are required on piping systems before they are placed into service. The first test is a pressure test, which verifies the integrity of the piping system. The second test is the leak test, which ensures there are no leaks in the piping system. The class introduces the 5 major steps to pressure testing and leak checking and defines the proper procedures for performing the tests.

Vaporizer Systems

The Vaporizer training class is intended to help create an efficient, trouble-free vaporizer system, that will operate at its peak performance and reduce the maintenance of the equipment. Students will learn the purpose of a vaporizer in a LP Gas setting. They also learn the typical installation features including regulator, drip leg, and separator installation guidelines. We cover pre-start-up, start-up, and shutdown procedures of the vaporizer system as well along with troubleshooting.

My Truck Won't Pump

The My Truck Won’t Pump curriculum takes a look into the complete in-process, transfer, and control system of the LPG distribution system commonly found on a bobtail truck. We follow a flow chart of possibilities starting with the propane in the truck and following it through all the systems on the bobtail to the end of the delivery hose and transfer valve where it then enters the target tank. We also review troubleshooting techniques as well discuss and review commonly found maintenance and equipment issues that can affect the transfer system of a bobtail. This review of a transfer system can be applied to both stationary as well as mobile fuel transfer operations.
