Gas Equipment Company takes pride in its team of remarkable Sales Representatives, who consistently deliver knowledge, reliability, and unparalleled customer service. Among the team are Jim Mason, Tracy Wells, and Todd Meyer who have truly exemplified the core values of GEC and set the standard for excellence in sales. In recognition of their hard work, over the past three years, each of them has earned the Sales Person of the Year award.
Jim Mason - 2022
Jim Mason has been named as the most recent Sales Person of the Year. He began his work in the LP-gas industry as part of management for a major propane retailer. His previous management experience accompanied with his 10 years working for GEC, has led Jim to accumulate a wealth of knowledge and become well-rounded in all applications including bulk storage, trucks, and tank to home. Using this knowledge, Jim has continuously excelled in all aspects of his position, becoming a reliable resource not only within the company but throughout the LP-gas industry.
Sharing his product knowledge and expertise, Jim conducted over 25 training classes for customers, in 2022 alone. His support for development extended beyond customers as Jim also devoted time to train a new GEC Outside Sales Representative. All while managing to actively participate in industry associations, including the West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Mid Atlantic Propane Associations. This participation that has allowed him to keep up to date with industry developments and build long lasting customer relationships.
Describing how Jim is able to help his customers, Gary Dyson, Eastern Regional Manager, said “His customers rely on him as a resource for application, troubleshooting, and regulation questions. He responds to customer questions and requests as soon as possible and his follow up is outstanding”.
In 2022, Jim’s sales performance far exceeded expectations, surpassing his previous year's sales by 128.1%. To highlight his commitment to delivering exceptional service, Jim has been recognized not only in 2022, but throughout his years at GEC. He was the recipient of the 2017 Sales Person of the Year award, and received Outstanding Service Awards in 2014, 2015, 2018, and 2020. Jim's dedication to his work, combined with his passion for continuous improvement, sets him apart as a sales representative who consistently goes above and beyond to achieve excellence.
Tracy Wells - 2021
Tracy Wells has worked as an outside sales representative at GEC for almost 9 years, serving customers in East Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. However, that is only a fraction of the time she has spent in the LPG industry during her career. Tracy’s first job was at a grill manufacturer, and it is notable to mention her love for grilling and cooking, with an online presence as “Propane Grill Girl”. Beyond that Tracy worked as the marketing coordinator for the Texas Railroad Commission and as an alternative fuels specialist for AmeriGas.
A true industry leader, Tracy is on the board of the Texas Propane Gas Association and serves as Secretary/Treasurer for the Louisiana Propane Gas Association. She continues to be involved in every state that she provides service to through GEC. More recently, in 2023 Tracy was nominated for the Propane Education Research Council (PERC) Leadership in Energy Ambassadors Program.
Steve Clayton, Central Regional Manager, remarks on Tracy’s accomplishments saying, “She exemplifies Gas Equipment values, work ethic and dedication to customers. From boardrooms to the back of a bobtail, Tracy is there, solving problems for customers and selling the value of GEC for the betterment of all”.
Tracy’s sales success is the direct result of her dedication to customers, knowledge and training in the field, and the initiative she shows as part of multiple associations and through GEC. Being the only female outside sales representative at GEC, Tracy is a remarkable employee and colleague, well deserving of the 2021 Gas Equipment Salesperson of the Year award. Her first and certainly not her last win.
Todd Meyer - 2020
Through 30 years of dedication to GEC, Todd Meyer has established himself as not only a reliable and committed sales representative, but as the unofficial GEC vaporizer and SNG/air mixer specialist. His experience extends from his previous work in the retail propane and anhydrous ammonia industry and allows him to put knowledge behind GEC products. His work in vaporizers, both agricultural and industrial, has qualified him to travel worldwide learning about vaporizers and industry products, selling systems and equipment, and training customers.
Commenting on Todd's work ethic, Steve Clayton, Central Regional Manager, said, “His unique combination of detailed memory, the ability to get problems solved when situations have ground to a halt and the ability to train and teach is unmatched in the industry”.
And while his troubleshooting and problem-solving stories on GEC products are legendary, he has also managed to hold various positions of leadership in the community. He has served within the Propane Gas Associations of Iowa and Illinois. Currently, he sits on the board of directors for the IPGA. And when he is not busy in the industry, Todd enjoys NASCAR, baseball, and most importantly, being a grandpa.
Having won the Sales Person of the Year title 8 different times and generating over $27 million in sales over the last half decade, Todd is well deserving of the 2020 Sales Person of the Year title. He has exemplified what it means to be a part of GEC, providing proven solutions to industry problems, and educating his colleagues and customers along the way. Todd leaves little doubt that a ninth Sales Person of the Year award is in his future.
